The Pakistan Post Office, one of the Sub-Continent's oldest government departments, was renamed the Department of Post and Telegraph in 1947. It was detached from the Telegraph & Telephone Company in 1962 and began operating as a separate attached department.
Through a network of over 13,000 post offices, Pakistan Post provides postal services in every region of the country. Pakistan Post provides free delivery services to about 20 million households and businesses as a community service. In addition to its conventional job, the Pakistan Post also undertakes agency functions for the federal and provincial governments.
